Elite 2011 prospect coming to the 'Ville

Rick Pitino made a trip to Florida earlier this week to see two elite sophomores – 6-foot-10 PF Richard Peters and 6-foot-6 SF Rod Days. The Louisville coach has already extended offers to both prospects – one of which will be coming to Louisville to check out the Cardinals in the near future.

On Tuesday, Pitino was in Florida to see top 2011 prospects Richard Peters and Rod Days. Days scored 14 points with Pitino in attendance, while Peters added 8 in a 48-46 loss to University School.

"Coach (Pitino) was here on Tuesday and came to our game on Tuesday night," Sagemont coach Adam Ross said. "He came to our game and has offered scholarships to both of our sophomores. He's been down a few times now to see these guys. He's made a few trips down here to south Florida. (Rakeem) Buckles is not far down the street so he's down here fairly often."

Both Peters and Days appear high priority recruits for Pitino's Cardinals.

Richard Peters.

"I think he likes the potential of both kids," Ross said. "Richard is a big 6-10 kid and Rod is 6-6 and very athletic. He's very impressed with both kids and has been for a little while now."

Besides Louisville, Days has offers from South Carolina, Miami and Florida State. Ross said he'll make a visit to Louisville for the Cardinals game March 1 against Big East rival Marquette in Freedom Hall.

"I think (Pitino) sees some Terrence Williams in him," said Ross. "Days will be coming up to (Louisville) the first of the month for the Marquette game. I think he's very interested in (Louisville). (But) he's still in 10th grade so his recruitment is just now really getting started and he and his family are just starting the evaluation process."

Ross said Louisville, Miami and Florida State comprise the current Top 3 on Days' early list of favorites.

As for Peters, Louisville, UConn and Oklahoma top the list. Peters is averaging 10.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.8 blocks this season. While Days has plans to visit Louisville next month, Peters plans to check out the Cardinals Big East rival – Uconn.

"Richard doesn't have plans right now to come up to Louisville," Ross said. "He's going to go see a UConn home game pretty soon as is Rod Days."

Ross said he doesn't expect any college decisions from either player until next fall - at the earliest.
