Pitino sees Chandler's 'breakout'

Michael Chandler, a 2011 Louisville commitment, has had to bide his time on the junior varsity this season. But the talented 6-11 center has seen more varsity action in recent weeks and had a breakout performance Tuesday night against Indy Pike with Rick Pitino in the stands.

Michael Chandler, a talented sophomore, has spent majority of his time this year making his presence known at the junior varsity level for Indianapolis (Ind.) Lawrence North because of a stacked varsity squad.

But L.N. coach Jack Keefer couldn't keep him on the bench much longer. The 6-foot-10 Louisville commit has worked his way into the rotation and last night against Indianapolis (Ind.) Pike, the big man went for 18 points.

"We had a pretty happy young sophomore in that locker room," Keefer told Kyle Neddenriep, of the Indy Star.

Kentucky commit Dominique Ferguson had a game high 24 points and 10 rebounds in the 70-52 wing over Pike. Pike's standout sophomore Marques Teague tallied 10 points in the loss.

Rick Pitino and his son, Richard, an assistant at Louisville, were in attendance for the showdown.
