During his two years with the Cardinals, Petrino tutored receivers Arnold Jackson, Lavell Boyd, Charles Sheffield, Deion Branch and Zek Parker. Jackson was an All-American selection, while others were honored as All-Conference USA selections.
Petrino coached teams have had great success and have a combined record of 100-53. He has been a part of some explosive offensive units as an assistant coach. As wide receivers coach of the AFROS in 1998 at the University of Louisville, the Cards led the nation in total offense with 560 ypg and 40.1 ppg. During his three years at Idaho, the Vandals finished second (490 ypg), third (518) and sixth (466) in NCAA 1-AA in total offense. At Utah State, the Aggies finished ninth in the nation in total offense twice and 16th once.
As a player at Carroll College (1985-88), Coach Petrino helped lead the team
to a 33-2 record overall record. He was named all conference and an all
region selection at quarterback all four years, earned Kodak All-American honors
in 1988, and posted career totals of 4,146 yards rushing and 5,502 passing
yards. Petrino set 16 Carroll College records.
Coach Petrino was born May 25, 1967 in Helena, Montanta. He earned a bachelor's degree in history from Carroll College in 1990 and is married to the former, Maya Dias, of Helena, Mont. The Petrino's have 2 children, four year old twins, Mason Vijay and Anne Mari.
