Biven gets big news from Louisville

Harris Biven, a 6-3, 290-pound defensive lineman from Owensboro (KY) Apollo, was eagerly awaiting his first scholarship offer. Wednesday, Biven, perhaps the state's top 2010 lineman, received big news from Louisville.

"(Louisville) offered me over the phone (today)," Harris Biven told InsideTheVille.com. "I was really excited when they told me (because) it was my first offer. I called Coach (Greg) Nord, he's the recruiter for my area, and he told me they were going to offer me. It takes a lot of pressure off, especially because it's Louisville and they've been one of my favorites. That was a big plus for me."

Biven is also getting attention from Kentucky. Wildcats assistant Chuck Smith visited Biven at school Wednesday to check in on one of the state's top linemen.

"The UK coach came by school today and got my transcripts and I've been talking to Western Kentucky," said Biven. "Coach Chuck Smith talked about grades and coming up to camp this summer. They want to see what I can do against good lineman."

Biven is also being looked at by SEC and Big 10 programs.

"My coach said Tennessee and Michigan have been asking about me," Biven said. "And I get pretty consistent mail from Alabama and Purdue."

Biven will attend the Scout.com combine in Cincinnati this weekend and plans to attend the Nike camp and several college camps this summer, including Louisville's. Biven hopes his performances at camp will result in a few more offers and he's hoping to make a college decision this summer.

"I think I'm going to pick up some more offers," Biven said. "I think I'm going to decide before my senior year so I don't have to think about it during my senior year. I'm not sure what time I'll decide, probably late summer."
