"The verbally offered me face to face and I just got the offer in the mail," Coley told InsideTheVille.com earlier this week. "I've always heard great things about Louisville. I keep up with the rankings and they've been in the Top 10 (recently)."
Coley made a name for himself last month in Baltimore at the Scout.com combine. Coley played all three linebacker positions last season and Louisville values his versatility.
"They like that I can play all three linebacker positions," said Coley. "I'm smart. I can see, read good and cover the flat. I can (also) take on blocks and make plays."
Navy currently is the Virginia linebackers only other scholarship offer but more could be on the way. "Miami (OH) is going to call me next week and they're talking about an offer," Coley said.
ECU, Maryland and Duke are also showing interest. Coley said he's planning to camp at each of those three schools this summer and he's particularly interested in the ACC programs. "I try to talk to them every two week," Coley said. "I like the ACC schools. They all want me to come to their camps before they offer. Most of my film is me playing outside (linebacker) and they want me to play middle (linebacker)."
As for Louisville, the Cardinals, along with Navy, are his leaders. Though Coley hasn't scheduled a visit to Louisville yet he's planning to check out the Cardinals over the summer. "I have nothing planned so far but I'm definitely going to try and take a trip," Coley said. "They're the first ones to pull the trigger and offer and I really appreciate that. I like Louisville's atmosphere. I've been talking to Coach (Larry) Slade and he's been very honest with me."
