Louisville shows interest in OL Tanner

Cincinnati (OH) Moeller offensive lineman Jeff Tanner is getting lots of recruiting interest this spring. Tanner, who protects elite national quarterback Andrew Hendrix, has caught the attention of the Louisville coaches.

Jeff Tanner has seen interest in his recruitment rise this spring and the 6-4, 275-pound offensive lineman is hearing from Louisville.

"Coach Jeff Lewis has been recruiting me," Tanner said. "I met him back at school but I haven't talked to him that much. I really (like) that they're in the Big East. They're up there on my list right now. I'll get down there this summer and check them out for sure. It seems like a great school."

Tanner holds two BCS offers from Indiana and Vanderbilt. Mid-American Conference programs Akron, Ohio, Miami (OH), Kent State and Toledo also have offered. Besides the schools that have offered, Tanner is receiving interest from Cincinnati and Northwestern.

"UC has been hitting me pretty hard this spring. They haven't offered me yet but I think they're really close to," Tanner said. "I'm going to their camp on July 15. Northwestern hasn't offered but they're recruiting me pretty hard."

Tanner said the BCS programs who have offered are recruiting him as an offensive guard, while the Mid-American Conference schools like him at tackle. Tanner wants to make a college decision before school starts and an offer from Cincinnati could have a major impact on that decision.

"I think I'm going to decide before the season," said Tanner. "The coaching staff will play a big part in my decision and then playing time and if I fit in with the campus. I want to make sure I fit in well on campus and the kids on the team."

Tanner was a first team All-GCL selection last season as a junior. Tanner is a good student with a 3.0 grade point average.
