Allen discusses Louisville offer

Detric Allen is a big-time athlete from Norwood (NC) South Stanly. Now with seven offers, the three-star safety recently picked up an offer from Louisville. Allen spoke with InsideTheVille.com about his interest in the Cardinals.

"I'm excited," Detric Allen said. "I've spoken with (Louisville) a couple times. Coach (Antonio) Goss said they liked my athletic ability. He's a nice person. He's from down here where I'm from. He said they see me at strong safety."

Allen now holds seven offers. Besides a recent offer from Louisville, the 6-0, 179-pound Allen also has offers from Virginia, Arkansas, Wake Forest, ECU, Wofford and Duke. Allen isn't ready to name favorites and says he probably won't make a decision until next fall.

"I plan to make my official visits in the fall," said Allen. "The main factors in my decision are the coaching staff, academics and going to a program that is rebuilding. I want a chance to play early. Louisville said that everything is up for grabs."

Allen is receiving interest from several ACC programs, including Clemson, North Carolina, NC State and Georgia Tech. Last week, Allen went to Wake Forest's camp and he plans to camp at Duke. Allen also says he's likely to visit Louisville.

"Louisville has talked about coming up for a visit," Allen said. "That's a possibility, probably at the beginning of my senior year."

Allen made 14 receptions for 312 yards and three touchdowns as a junior, while rushing for 712 yards and five touchdowns. He also passed for 1,109 yards and 11 touchdowns. Allen projects as a wide receiver or safety at the next level.
