Price enjoys visit with Louisville

Zach Price, a talented 2011 forward from Cleveland (OH) St. Edward, is expected to make a big splash on the national scene during the July evaluation period. Before he blows up nationally, Louisville got the promising big man on campus for a visit. Price spoke with about his visit to Louisville.

Since blowing up earlier this month at the Nike Hoop Jamboree, 6-foot-8, 220-pound power forward Zach Price has seen interest in his recruitment heat up. Over the weekend, the 2011 standout drove south from Cleveland to visit Louisville.

"We got to tour the facilities and they have really nice facilities," Price said. "(Louisville) has a good basketball program. I got a call from Coach Steve (Masiello). We've always liked Louisville so we decided to take a trip down there this weekend. They have state of the art facilities and Rick Pitino wants the best for his players."

Price wasn't the only 2011 prospect on campus visiting Louisville. The Cardinals also hosted Wayne Blackshear and Mike Shaw, two of the nation's Top 10 2011 prospects. While on campus, Price toured Louisville's facilities and sat down to discuss the benefits of playing for the Cardinals with Rick Pitino.

"Louisville's a good college and I really like the coaches," said Price. "Coach Pitino is a very approachable guy and (he) looks out for his players after basketball when the ball stops dribbling and teaches them how to deal with their finances."

Though he was on campus at the same time as Blackshear and Shaw, Price and the Chicago stars didn't cross paths or get a chance to compare notes too much.

"I didn't talk with the too much while I was there but I think they enjoyed their trip like I did this weekend," Price said.

On the recruiting front, Price is about to become a top 2011 recruiting priority for a number of elite programs across the country. He already has offers from Louisville, Ohio State, Michigan State, Wake Forest and Wisconsin. Miami, Florida and Xavier, and many others, could follow with offers next month. Price said he's not in a rush to make a college decision and wants to take his time and explore all of his options.

"I'm still looking at different options out there for me," Price said. "Some people think that I'm leaning toward colleges around me but as an example I went to Louisville this weekend and that shows that I want to look everywhere and you never know where I might go. I'm open to anyone."

Besides his visit to Louisville, Price expects to check out more programs this summer.

"I want to visit as many schools as possible this summer and evaluate my options before I make a decision," Price said. "I want to look at some more ACC and Big East programs and I might check out Arizona also."
