Florida DB adds offers; Talks favorites

Devont'a Davis, a talented defensive back prospect from Gainesville (FL) High, picked up several new scholarship offers this spring, including one from the Louisville Cardinals. Davis spoke with Scout.com about his new offers and his favorite schools. Did Louisville make Davis' list?

Devont'a Davis went into the spring evaluation period with offers from UCF and Arkansas. Throughout the spring, he added several more.

"Some of the new ones I got were Miami, Rutgers, Iowa State, Liberty, and Troy," Davis said.

Davis, 6-foot-1 and 165 pounds, has been to two camps so far this summer but neither school has offered him yet.

"I went to the LSU camp," he said. "It was real nice, lots of competition. I locked down some of the receivers so I did good. I went to Florida's camp. I went and did my thing. They're in the process of offering me. I'm not sure what's next. I gotta see what's out there. I wanna make it up to South Carolina."

The biggest in-state offer for Davis has come from Miami. He talked about his interest in the Canes.

"When I think about Miami, I think about their dynasty, championships, putting players in the league," he said. "I like them a lot. Miami wants me at corner."

So does anyone have the edge for the talented cornerback prospect?

"No one leads," he said. "I like Louisville, South Carolina, Miami, everyone is on the same level right now. I'm looking for a team that's gonna give me early playing time, a team that will take me in as family. And graduation rates is important to me, too."

Inside the classroom, Davis claims a 2.5 GPA and hasn't reported a test score yet.
