Lackey waiting for Louisville

Brian Lackey , a 6-4, 190-pound wide receiver from Dallas (GA) East Paulding, has an intriguing combination of size and skill. Lackey recently attended Louisville's camp and he's hoping to get some good news from the Cardinals soon.

Brian Lackey isn't currently at the top of Louisville's recruiting board at the wide receiver position. Though a few players are ahead of him on the Cardinals radar, Lackey, who attended Louisville's Senior Camp July 14, hopes to hear good news soon from the Big East school.

"They have a couple offers out to wide receivers right now but at the end of the month they say I'd be the first to get offered," Lackey said.

Though he currently has offers from Toledo, Western Carolina, Middle Tennessee State and Tennessee-Chattanooga, Lackey said an offer from Louisville would move the Cards to "number one" on his list.

"It's between Louisville and Toledo but I'm looking at other schools just in case," Lackey said.

Lackey also attended MTSU's camp this summer. Greg Nord has served as Lackey's primary recruiting contact at Louisville but he spent most of his time on his visit working with and talking to Jeff Lewis, Louisville's new wide receiver coach. "He told me I was very precise running my routes and I had good speed for my size," Lackey said.

As a junior, Lackey recorded about 50 receptions for more than 500 yards and four touchdowns. Though he'll play both wide receiver and safety this season, Lackey said the Cardinals are recruiting him to play on the offense.

"I went up to Louisville for a camp July 14 and talked to the coaches," Lackey said. "The camp was real good. We really learned fundamentals. It was fun - a great experience. I got to talk to the players that go there. I just liked the atmosphere there and I loved the facilities. And Coach (Jeff) Lewis is an amazing coach."

Lackey says his strength as a wide receiver is his hands.
