DT commits to Louisville

InsidetheVille.com has learned that defensive tackle Amobi Okoye of Lee High School in Huntsville, Alabama has given a verbal commitment to Louisville.

DT Amobi Okoye (6'2, 285) was a late addition to the list of visitors this past weekend. ITV has learned that while Okoye was on campus, the Louisville coaching staff extended an offer and he accepted.

Okoye received All-State honors for his efforts on both sides of the ball. He was a 5A All-State selection by Birmingham News as a defensive lineman, while the ASWA selected him as first team 5A All-State as an offensive lineman. He was an All-State honorable mention selection in 2001. He recorded 60 total tackles, including 9 sacks this past season.

While he proves to be talented enough to play either offense or defense at the next level, most are projecting him as a defensive tackle in college.

He has all ready taken visits to both Mississippi State and Vanderbilt, both of who had offered. In addition to MSU and Vandy, Okoye selected the Cardinals over Southern Miss, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi, UAB and Clemson.

ITV will have more on this commitment soon.
