Football prospects take in season-opener

The Louisville football team kicked off the season against Indiana State and hosted several recruits, including a few of the top prospects from Kentucky, on visits Saturday night at PJCS. has the scoop on more than 20 prospects in attendance.

Louisville hosted more than 60 prospects on visits for the season-opener against Indiana State at PJCS Saturday night. Here's a rundown of several prospects in attendance:

Tyrrell Willis, a 6'3, 235-pound running back/defensive lineman from Calloway County. Willis has offers from Louisville and Memphis.

Tim Patterson, a four-star defensive end from Louisville Central. Patterson is a top recruit for the Cardinals and is also considering Kentucky and Purdue.

Stephan Robinson, a speedy wide receiver from Louisville Central. Robinson holds an offer from UofL and is also considering Indiana and Illinois.

Nick Robertson, a 6'5 kicker/punter from Louisville Trinity. Robertson kicked a 49 yard field goal Friday night against Manual and put five of six kickoffs into the end zone for touchbacks. Robertson has given UofL a verbal commitment.

Harris Bivin, a three-star OL from Owensboro who is has also given Louisville a commitment.

Juan Glover, a talented wide receiver from Cincinnati (OH) Winton Woods. The 5'9 Glover was a standout at Louisville's summer camp in July. He's on the Cards recruiting radar and could get an offer this season. Glover made a 24-yard reception last week against Moeller.

Avery Cunningham, a safety and teammate of Juan Glover's. Cunningham also attended Louisville's summer camp in July and is one of the top prospects in Cincinnati this year.

Chad Merida, a 5'10, 190-pound running back from London (KY) South Laurel. Merida carried 103 times for 949 yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior. He runs a 4.5 forty.

Casey Gambrel, a 6'6, 335-pound OL/DL from Barbourville (KY) Knox Central HS.

Cameron Chaney, a 2008 AP honorable mention all-state defensive back from Central Hardin.

Thomas Downs, a 6'3, 245-pound running back from Cambellsville. Downs rushed for 925 yards and seven touchdowns as a junior and is receiving interest from several Division 1 programs. He rushed for 77 yards against LaRue County last week.

Drake Fletcher, a 6-1, 210-pound linebacker from Cincinnati Roger Bacon. Fletcher particpated in Louisville's summer camp and was a second team All-Greater League selection as a junior. Fletcher, who runs a 4.6 forty, is getting lots of interest from several MAC schools.

Bryant Ausperk, a massive 6'7, 310-pound offensive lineman from Akron (OH) St. Vincent-Mary.

Aaron Nance, a 6'4, 185-pound wide receiver from Louisville Seneca. Nance is one of the top prospects in the area and had six catches for 160 yards and one touchdown against Central last week in the season-opening victory.

Several top 2011 prospects, including Seneca star quarterback DaMarcus Smith and Eastern tight end Jon Davis. Smith and Davis, among the best juniors in Kentucky, hold offers from the Cardinals. Smith is out for the season with a torn ACL.
