6'5, 305-pound offensive lineman makes decision

OL Josh Deer (6'5, 305) of Barron Collier High School in Naples, Fla, has given his verbal commitment to the Cardinals.

Offensive lineman Josh Deer (6'5, 305) has only played two years of high school football and had then missed four games his senior season when he went down with a knee injury, but his size is something that a number of programs couldn't ignore.

I spoke Josh's head coach at Barron Collier on Sunday afternoon and Coach Sparacio told me that Josh has a great amount of potential.

"He has tremendous potential," Sparacio said of Deer. "Having only played two years of football, he hasn't applied himself in the weight room like he will at Louisville. He's only 17, so he is probably still going to grow some."

Josh was recruited to Louisville primarily by new offensive line coach Mike Summers.

"Coach Summers is a dynamite guy," said Sparacio. "We has real impressed by Josh's determination to work hard. He was also impressed by how Josh is so quick with his feet."

Sparacio continued to explain why Louisville, as well as Florida, Georgia and Florida State, began to show considerable interest in Josh.

"He does have great feet for a kid his size. He explodes really well and plays from the hips. He has brute strength."

Josh is fully qualified.
