"We're going to [Louisville] the [November] the 15th and 16th," Russell Smith, Sr. said.
Smith could commit to the Cardinals on his visit.
"We're leaning towards Louisville, that's the way we're leaning right now," said Smith. "I had a real good conversation with Rick [Pitino] and their assistant coach about their need for him."
What stands out about Louisville?
"I want him to play for someone who is a great teacher and has done it at both levels," Smith said. "At the end of the day he's making the decision. We're going to go for the best offer, and [Pitino] is a Hall of Fame coach. It's up to him I'm just there to advise him."
"We're trying to work on the Baylor and Houston visits but it's just so hard because of his [schedule]," said Smith. "It's real hard to get to those places.
Smith said his son would like to sign with the school of his choice during the early signing period.
"He wants to sign on my Birthday, Nov. 18th," Smith said.
Smith recently teamed with Louisville prospect J.J. Moore in the IS8 Tournament. The two led their team to the championship game Sunday before losing in the final. Smith was named First team All-Tournament after scoring 22 points on 8 of 11 shooting in the semifinals. The two will team together at South Kent (CT) Prep school this year.
"He's an A-student with a 1370 on the SAT," Smith said. "He's passed all his cores."
