After stepping up during the summer circuit and scoring Big East scholarship offers Moore, a standout at South Kent (Conn.) School, is closing in on a college decision.
Although Moore, a 6-foot-6, 190-pound small forward, still plans to visit Pittsburgh prior to making his collegiate decision, he's yet to set a date to see the Panthers.
"We are talking to them about it now, but I'm not sure when I'm going to visit," he said.
When Moore takes his official visit there it won't be his first time on campus. Moore took an unofficial visit to their campus earlier in the year, but he didn't get to see the campus with school in session.
"I was just going up there to see how Pitt was," he said. "I didn't see any people on the campus or see how the campus is when students are there. So when I go to see them and there are students there I'll get to see how the environment is."
Moore took his official visit to Louisville two weeks ago. He came away with a strong impression of the Cardinals and their entire package.
"Louisville is a good school," the 2010 prospect said. "The team is real chill. The coach is a good coach. Their coaching staff is good people and I just had a good visit there."
The third school on his list – St. John's – has had a relationship with Moore for quite some time, and that's one of the main reasons they are firmly in the mix.
"I've known the coaching staff for a very long time," Moore said. "I've bonded with them very well. I've known coach Norm [Roberts] for five or six years because I played with his son, so he and I have a good connection."
Moore's plan is to announce his college decision during the early signing period, which begins November 11th. However he still has to set up his official visit to Pittsburgh.
"I'm thinking about signing in the early period, so I can get this over and done with," Moore said. "Then I could focus on my school work instead of my recruitment."
"Right now I'm just open and I'm absorbing everything," he added.
