Dominique Brown talks Louisville

Louisville coaches were in Cincinnati last night to pay a recruiting visit to star quarterback prospect Dominique Brown. Brown says he's seriously considering Louisville and plans to visit the Cardinals next weekend.

Louisville went to see Cincinnati (OH) Winton Woods star Dominique Brown play basketball Tuesday night. But the Cardinals aren't interested in the 6-2, 205-pound standout as a basketball prospect; they're looking for a dual-threat quarterback.

They were in the right place. Brown, a three-star prospect, is rated the No. 35 quarterback prospect nationally by Scout.com.

Louisville was in Cincinnati Tuesday night for Dominique Brown.
"They came and watched my basketball game last night and they stayed afterward and talked to me," Brown said. "They tried to get me to come down there for an official visit at Louisville and they were saying they were recruiting me as a quarterback."

Brown apparently liked what heard. He's scheduled to make an official visit to Louisville next weekend. "I'm most likely going to come down there with my parents and spend the weekend down there," Brown said.

Brown said Louisville has told him he's their No.1 recruiting target at the quarterback position. Sanford plans to install an offense similar to Florida's spread option and Brown would be a perfect fit with his ability to pass and run.

"They're going to run a similar offense that Florida runs and they seem to think they don't have anybody down there right now to be like [Tim] Tebow and use his legs," said Brown. "They said I would fit perfect in that offense because that's my skill basically, using my legs. They were also saying they that they want me to throw the ball more."

Brown committed to Cincinnati last summer but re-opened his recruitment when Brian Kelly took off to Notre Dame. He's still considering the Bearcats, in addition to offers from Georgia Tech, Louisville and Ohio State. Cincinnati, Georgia Tech and Louisville are recruiting him as a quarterback; Ohio State as a wide receiver.

"The most important factor in my decision is the opportunity to play quarterback," Brown said. "I don't really want to redshirt but I don't want the position to be given to me. I want to work for it."

Brown said he really likes Charlie Strong and feels comfortable around him. "He's real cool, I like Charlie Strong a lot," Brown said. "It's all about having trust and relationships with a head coach for a quarterback. I see me and Coach Strong getting along very well."

Brown says the Cardinals are a serious option for him. "They are up there on my list," Brown said. "I don't have a particular order but it's like UC, Louisville, Georgia Tech and Ohio State."

Brown said he doesn't anticipate signing on national signing day, which is on February 3.

"I want to weigh all my options and take all my official visits," Brown said. "If I signed on the third I could only get in two visits. So I'm going to give all of the colleges a fair shot and go visit the school at least. I don't really know the time period. It could be the middle of February or [later]."
