Brooks one to watch for Louisville

Louisville has just a few scholarships left and Jamaine Brooks is a player to watch closely. Though Brooks didn't receive an offer on his official visit this weekend, Charlie Strong and assistant Clint Hurtt are traveling to Miami this week to check in with the 6'3, 290-pound defensive lineman.

Jamaine Brooks, a talented defensive lineman from Miami (FL) Palmetto, enjoyed his visit to Louisville this weekend and proclaims the Cardinals as his leader. Now all Brooks needs is an offer from Charlie Strong.

"It was good, I liked the visit," Brooks said. "The visit was good and everybody treated me like family. The players are all cool."

Louisville has a few scholarships left and Charlie Strong wants to add another defensive lineman to his recruiting class. Three-star Miami defensive tackle Todd Chandler is at the top of Louisville's recruiting board. Brooks is right behind Chandler and definitely a player to keep a close eye on now.

"He said they only have three scholarships left and he's probably going to give me one," Brooks said. "He's going to come down to Miami and see me Wednesday and let me know. I also have a meeting with the defensive line coach [Clint Hurtt] Tuesday. He [Strong] said he needs defensive linemen that can come in and play now. He's ready to change Louisville around and he needs some guys that can come in and be physical as freshmen."

Brooks has offers from Illinois and Western Michigan and is receiving late recruiting interest from Florida State. Where does Louisville stand with Brooks?

"They're in my top two for sure," Brooks said. "Since I visited Louisville I like it a lot so it's like my No. 1 now. If I get a scholarship and things go right I'll commit. Florida State is trying to give me an offer and I still have Illinois and Western Michigan. I'm just trying to find a place I can go."
