With Signing Day rapidly approaching, Louisville's recruiting class is nearly complete. But in the final days before the end of the recruiting period, Charlie Strong still has a few major recruiting targets left on the board. Who are Strong's last remaining targets? InsideTheVille.com has scoop.
has just a few slots available in the 2010 recruiting class, but Charlie Strong
would really love to add these four players to his first recruiting class. As National Signing Day approaches (Feb. 3), keep an eye on these prospects:
Chandler is a heavy Louisville lean. Three of his high school teammates – Corvin Lamb
, Michaelee Harris
and Torrian Wilson
– have committed to the Cardinals. Needing help on the defensive line, Chandler, a three-star prospect, could help the Louisville defense next season as a freshman. He canceled a visit to FSU this weekend and will visit South Carolina
instead. Strong is expected to make an in-home visit with Chandler this week.
Prediction: It would be a big surprise if Chandler ended up anywhere except Louisville. He'll be a Cardinal on signing day.
Other Options: Jamaine Brooks, DT, Miami (FL) Palmetto
Brown, a 6-3, 205-pound dual-threat quarterback from Cincinnati, appears Charlie Strong's top choice at quarterback. The Cardinals already have three commitments from quarterbacks this year but Strong continues to make a strong push for Brown, who isn't expected to sign with anyone next week. Ohio State
, Georgia Tech
and Cincinnati are also in the mix, but Louisville might be stronger with Brown than a lot of people believe.
Prediction: Brown wants to play quarterback in college. This might come down to Louisville and Georgia Tech. The Cardinals are in the thick of things and will surely make a strong pitch when Brown is on campus this weekend. Too close to call this one.
Other Options: Marcus Smith, QB, Columbus (GA) Hardaway (Louisville commit)
, WR, 6-1, 190, 4.5, Ocala (FL) Trinity Catholic
Louisville would love to add a playmaker the caliber of Boone, the No. 15 wide receiver in the nation. The Cardinals have stiff competition for the four-star WR from Ocala, Fla. Georgia
and West Virginia
are in the mix, but LSU
appears the primary competition because of Boone's relationship with former Florida assistant Billy Gonzales
, who is now the wide receivers coach for the Tigers. Louisville's coaching also has a strong relationship with Boone and Strong will visit with the talented receiver before signing day.
Prediction: LSU needs wide receivers, but don't be shocked if Louisville closes the deal.
Other Options: Josh Bellamy, WR, Butte College
, LB, 6-3, 200, 4.5, Port Saint Lucie (FL) Treasure Coast
Louisville wants Rogers badly. Charlie Strong is making a visit to Florida this week to try to persuade Rogers, a Georgia commitment, to sign with Louisville next week. Rogers visited Louisville in January with teammate Steve Funderburk
. He's a speedy outside linebacker prospect that could be an early difference-maker for Strong's defense.
Prediction: Rogers has been committed to Georgia for a while, but Strong isn't giving up. In the end, Strong will get his man.
Other Options: Preston Brown, LB, Cincinnati (OH) Northwest, Tim Patterson, LB, Louisville Central
