Taylor and Bridgeman see James Davis
Last night 7-0, 285 James Davis was in action against Minneapolis powerhouse Patrick Henry at the Target Center. Davis' North High team fell 68-60 in a hard fought battle.
And according to North High coach Brett McNeil, a former player at WKU for Clem Haskins and Murray Arnold, University of Louisville Assistant Coach Vince Taylor and former UofL great Junior Bridgeman, a cousin of Davis' were in attendance last night. However, Coach Pitino did not make the trip last night.
"Louisville is highly interested but no offer was made," said McNeil.
According to McNeil, it now appears that the junior college route may be the road taken by Davis. Early signs from the school seemed to indicate it possible that Davis could partially qualify for collegiate eligibility, but McNeil now says Davis would probably be a prop. 48 next year.
McNeil indicated that Davis wanted to stay close to home in the event he attended a junior college where he could family friends and family close by for support.
Davis, despite playing with a sprained ankle had 10 points and several rebounds last night. "He played real well in the third quarter but we went away from him toward the end," McNeil said.
Davis and North High begin regional play March 6-8.
