At 6'1, 205-pounds, Casey's size, along with his 4.45-40 speed helped him standout as one of the top running backs in Kentucky as a junior. He rushed for 2,358-yards, second most in Kentucky, on 316 carries, averaging 7.46 yards per carry. He also rushed for an amazing 34 touchdowns. His 181.4 yards per outing ranked 5th in the state in 2002.
Casey helped Paducah Tilghman, who is coached by Perry Thomas, the Class AAA district and region coach of the year, to its best finish in 10 years as they finished second in their region with a 10-3 record.
He racked up a number of honors following his junior campaign, including 1st Team All-State by both the Associated Press and Louisville Courier-Journal. He and Trinity quarterback Brian Brohm were the only juniors from Kentucky named to the Student Sports All-American Football Team. The Kentucky Football Coaches Association named Casey the Class 3A Region 1 District 1 Football Player of the Year.
Louisville, Notre Dame and Kentucky have all ready shown considerable interest in Casey, as have a number of regional programs. The interest in Casey will only intensify over the coming months.
