Brown told Scout.com Jan. 27 that he's still committed to Cincinnati, but added, "that could change."
Louisville has been working hard to flip Brown since Brian Kelly left for Notre Dame. The Cardinals hosted Brown two weeks ago for an official visit and offensive coordinator Mike Sanford and defensive coordinator Vance Bedford paid Brown a visit Thursday night.
"It went good," Brown said. "I got a lot of my questions answered. I just wanted to know more about the defense, where I would play and how they were going to use me. They said I'd be middle but they'd move me around and try to utilize me [different ways]."
It appears Louisville's recruiting pitch during the in-home made an impact on Brown's decision-making process.
"It helped to see what was really going on," Brown said. "I've got a more comfortable feeling now. They said they've got about two [scholarships] left now but they'll save one for me. They said they'll wait for me until the end – me and Dominique Brown."
The key to a commitment from Preston Brown might be Dominique Brown, a three-star quarterback also from Cincinnati. Brown said he and Dominique Brown are longtime friends and both were committed to Cincinnati before Brian Kelly's departure. The two schools on both prospects' lists: Cincinnati and Louisville.
Dominique Brown had intended to delay his signing but changed his mind this week. Now, the dual-threat star plans to sign with either Ohio State, Cincinnati or Louisville next week. Brown chose to visit Louisville this weekend instead of checking out Georgia Tech. Brown is Charlie Strong's No. 1 prospect and the Cardinals are thought to be a serious contender for his services.
"Wherever he goes I'll probably go," Brown said. "I'm trying to go wherever he goes."
Brown intends to wait until next Wednesday to announce his choice.
"I don't know when I'll be able to make my decision but I'm getting close," Brown said. "I am getting close, but I probably won't be able to make until I'm sitting at the table [on signing day]. We're going to sit down and talk about it this weekend."
Asked about a published report this week that he would sign with the Bearcats next week, Brown said this: "Everybody says I'm signing with whoever I'm talking to," Brown said. "I won't really know until I make my decision. I'll go wherever I can be happy and where I can have the most success. That's what it boils down to."
