Three-star LB visiting Louisville

Lamar Dawson, a three-star linebacker from Danville (KY) Boyle County, is one of the top prospects in Kentucky's class of 2011. Dawson will visit Louisville this Saturday and recently spoke with Charlie Strong.

Lamar Dawson, a highly recruited linebacker from Danville (KY) Boyle County, will make an unofficial visit to Louisville this weekend.

A three-star prospect, Dawson made 176 tackles, including 23 for loss, as a junior. He recently visited Kentucky and will check out Louisville Saturday.

"They're going to show me the facilities and then I'm going to the basketball game," Dawson said.

Though Dawson hasn't been offered a scholarship by Louisville, Charlie Strong told him last week the Cardinals plan to offer him.

"I've been talking to Charlie Strong," said Dawson. "I talked to him about a week ago. It went good. He seems like a cool guy and has a nice personality. He was telling me that he was going to offer me a scholarship and that he wanted me up there."

What does the 6-foot-3, 235-pound linebacker think about Louisville?

"It's a good program and a good conference," Dawson said.

Dawson added offers from Illinois and Western Kentucky Thursday. He also holds offers from Kentucky, Cincinnati, Purdue, Stanford, Texas Tech. Dawson isn't naming favorites right now and hopes to visit some schools that have offered this spring.

"I'm just keeping my options open," Dawson said. "I'm going to try to visit a few schools this spring,Texas Tech, Illinois, Purdue and hopefully Stanford."
