Louisville offers Alabama lineman

DaMon Husband, offensive center from Mobile-Williamson, Ala., felt a little relieved Monday when the first scholarship offer arrived. He has been watching friends from the Port City collect several of their fair share as he talked about the latest news and other schools showing interest.

"Today I received an offer from Louisville," said DaMon Husband. "They sent me a letter today. I have never talked to any of their coaches before. I know Charlie Strong is the head coach. He came from Florida. I know what type of competitor he is. I don't know anything else about the coaching staff.

"It's a blessing to have the offer. It's my first D-I offer. It was a step for me. It's the first step of many. I felt relief. I am very close with Danny Woodson from down here. It wasn't anything hard, but I felt some pressure off of me."

A couple of new schools have started expressing interest in the south Alabama native as well.

"Oregon and Illinois are showing a lot of interest in me right now," he said. 'My coach talked to their offensive line coach. He said he liked me. I sent them my highlight tape. I am not sure if they evaluated me yet, but they are recruiting me pretty heavily."

Husband has stayed home this semester, but he's eager to take some unofficial vsiits.

"I have missed a few visits due to personal reasons," he said. "I was supposed to go to Kentucky this past weekend. I was also supposed to attend Junior Days at Alabama and Auburn. I had to miss those visits as well due to personal reasons. I plan to get up to Alabama and Auburn soon."
