The Cardinals, who will host Junior Day Saturday, offered Husband a scholarship earlier this month. Charlie Strong already has six 2011 commitments in the fold and there's a strong possibility that Husband might become No. 7 this weekend.
"I'm thinking about committing at Junior Day, it just depends on the atmosphere and how I feel at Louisville at the time," Husband told InsideTheVille.com Tuesday night. "I've been talking about it with my high school coach. I've researched the whole athletic department and the history and background of the school. It feels like a new beginning with the new coaching staff and that's something I want to be a part of – the change."
"If they make me feel like I'm at home that's where I'm going to go."
You know a guy is serious about a school when he brings his family along for the visit. Husband's parents and his grandmother will also make the trip to Louisville this weekend.
"I want to check out the new coaching staff at Louisville and see what they might have to offer me," Husband said. "I just talked to Coach [Mike] Groh [tonight] and I've been talking to him for quite some time. He's just been talking about my chances to play early and that's a plus to go into a program that has that opportunity. He's been telling me about the atmosphere there with the new coaching staff and has made it sound really good."
Husband, who also holds an offer from Southern University, has received considerable interest from big-time programs Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee and Florida State this spring. He's familiar with Strong from Florida and believes he'll produce a winner at UofL.
"I've heard a lot about Charlie from when he won two national championships at Florida as the defensive coordinator," Husband said. "I feel like Louisville's going to be a dominant defensive team with him there and that's what wins championships. I haven't talked to him yet. Hopefully I'll get the chance to when I'm up there."
Though Husband plays tackle in high school, Louisville is recruiting him as a guard.
"I feel very comfortable at guard because I have played there," Husband said. "I play tackle in high school. I feel I'm mentally strong and recognize the defense and different situations. And I think I have good feet, I have that."
