Louisville's Rick Pitino and Marquette's Tom Crean were named as two of 25 finalists for the 2002-03 Naismith National College Coach of the Year Award it was announced by Atlanta Tip Off Club President Jackie Bradford on Wednesday.
Pitino has guided the Cardinals to a No. 9 national ranking and 19-4 overall mark (9-3 C-USA), while Crean has directed the No. 10 Golden Eagles to a 20-4 overall mark and 11-2 first-place record in the American Division.
The Naismith College Coach of the Year Award was established in 1987.
Louisville and Marquette square off in a key divisional battle tonight at Freedom Hall (ESPN 2, 8:00 p.m.).
