REPORT: Samuels to stay in NBA Draft

According to an ESPN.com report, Louisville sophomore center Samardo Samuels will hire an agent and remain in the 2010 NBA Draft. A formal announcement is expected Wednesday from Samuels, who is projected as a fringe second round pick.

ESPN.com reported Tuesday night that Samardo Samuels will hire an agent and remain in the 2010 NBA Draft.

Samuels, who is projected as a fringe second round pick, led Louisville in scoring (15.3) and rebounding (7) last season as a sophomore.

According to the report, Samuels' decision surprised Louisville coaches because only first round draft picks are guaranteed a roster spot and contract in the league next season. An announcement about Samuels decision is expected to be made Wednesday.

Without Samuels, Louisville returns just one regular starter, forward Jared Swopshire, from a team that finished 20-13 and was convincingly knocked out in the first round of the NCAA Tournament by California.
