Louisville commitment a hot commodity

Jacquese Kirk, Scout.com three-star cornerback from Jasper-Walker, Ala., committed to Louisville last month. Scholarship offers continue to roll in for the talented prospect, and he plans to hit several summer camps.

"Stanford offered me today," said Jacquese Kirk. "It was shocking. I have been receiving a few letters from them. My coach and principal came to get me out of class. They asked me if I had talked to them. They gave me the offer.

"I was shocked by the offer. It's all the way out in California. They reached out to someone all the way in Alabama. I have not talked to any of them. I will probably take an official visit out there. Not many people from here get to go out there."

A coach from Stanford plans to visit Walker High School on Friday. More than a few coaches have located the coal mining town of about 15,000.

"We have been seeing a whole lot of faces," Kirk said. "Southern Miss came today. Louisville was here yesterday, South Alabama was here. Samford came by today. Auburn came by today. Coach Cignetti from Alabama came by last week."

Kirk remains committed to Louisville, but also holds scholarship offers from Arkansas, South Alabama, Stanford, UAB and Vanderbilt.

"I am still committed to Louisville," he said. "Most of my offers came after I committed. Right now some people want me to come to camp. They want me to keep in contact. I will probably go to compete with some of the best players out there.

"I will go back up to Louisville. Coach Lolley from Auburn wants me to come to their camp. He said I am one of the top three cornerbacks they are recruiting in Alabama.

"Alabama said they don't like to offer cornerbacks unless they see them in camp. I will probably go down there. Vanderbilt and South Alabama want me to come. Tennessee wants me to come visit as well."

Walker will host Columbus (Miss.) next Thursday for their spring game.
