Jakarr Sampson is emerging as an elite prospect nationally and he's become of top 2011 recruiting target for Rick Pitino.

Sampson, a 6-foot7 small forward from Akron, OH, is attending the NBA Top 100 Camp this week in Charlottesville, Va. While he's hoping to build on his national reputation, Sampson said three programs have emerged as the favorites for his future services.

"Baylor, I really like Louisville and Xavier..those are probably my top three at this time," Sampson said.

While Baylor and Xavier made the list, Sampson plans to visit Louisville next week with Zach Price, a 2011 Louisville recruit from Cleveland.

"I'm going to visit next week with Zach Price, he committed there," Sampson said. "We're going after this camp I think it's going to be on Tuesday."

Why is Sampson interested in Louisville?

"They really fit my playing style, up tempo type of play," Sampson said. "They get out and run. That's my type of play. They've been recruiting me pretty hard."

Sampson said Price is working on him to join him at Louisville next season.

"Zach is always in my ear – that's my boy," Sampson said. "It would be nice to go to college. We're real tight."

Louisville assistant coach Steve Masiello recruited Price to UL and he's also recruiting Sampson for the Cardinals.

"He seems like a cool guy, I guy I could hang around for my three or four years in college," Sampson said. "I feel comfortable around him and that's really important too. I feel like I have a nice relationship with him also."

Sampson has also spoken with Louisville head coach Rick Pitino.

"I've talked to him a couple times," Sampson said. "He sounds cool, too. They're all talking about the same things and it sounds like they're all on the same page. I'm not hearing different things from different coaches. They all sound like they're together on this. They're telling me they would like to play me at the three,, run and rebound."

Sampson is contemplating making a decision this summer. His upcoming visit to Louisville could play a big role in that choice.

"I'm thinking about making my decision after the AAU season," said Sampson.
