"My top three are Louisville, Notre Dame and Kentucky." Dixon said. "I was talking to all three of them on a regular basis and getting real close to them. We'd talked about what I wanted to major in and other things like that.
"I know Notre Dame is one of the top schools for academics, so I know if I don't make it in football my education will back me up. I know Notre Dame graduates 97 percent of their athletes.
"Louisville, me and coach (Mike) Groh talk about a lot of things," he said. "I want to major in engineering, so we talked about their engineering program. He just wants me to come up there and talk to some of the athletes that are majoring in engineering and tell me how it is and what they go through.
"At Kentucky, I've been talking to coach Tee Martin. He told me that Lexington is a nice city and a nice place to be. They have a good engineering program and that a lot of their guys want to major in engineering. He said that they give them a lot of tutoring so they can keep their grades up and make sure they get their degree before they leave college."
Dixon plans to take visits in the fall before making his college decision.
