Pryor: Strong will turn Louisville around

Calvin Pryor, a three-star safety from Port St. Joe, Fla., puts Louisville, Florida State and Maryland atop his list of favorites. A top target for the Cardinals, Pryor believes Charlie Strong has Louisville's program headed in the right direction.

Louisville is a prime contender for Calvin Pryor, a three-star safety from Port St. Joe, Fla., and the Cardinals are well positioned at the top of Pryor's list of favorites heading into the season.

"If I had to choose a top three today they would be Louisville, FSU, and Maryland," Florida standout Calvin Pryor told

Pryor is a top 50 prospect in the state of Florida (number 37 to be exact,, and can play on both sides of the ball (safety and running back) at the next level. Though most schools project him as a safety, including Louisville.

The Port St. Joe star lists 12 offers. The list includes Louisville, FSU, Arkansas, Baylor, Iowa State, Stanford, and Maryland. The recruiting process still seems to be in the early stages despite him listing a top three though. "I have not taken any visits to schools yet, but I did just get back from a Florida camp," Pryor said.

He added more about his decision process. "I don't really have a timetable for making my decision," Pryor said. "It might be whenever I take my five official visits, or maybe on National Signing Day. I just want to take my time with the decision and know I make the right decision for me and my family. I will have my top five before the end of the summer though."

He also talked about Louisville. It started off with yet another telling quote about Louisville head coach Charlie Strong. "The thing I like most about Louisville is the coaching staff. I know Coach Strong will turn the program around," Pryor said.

While he had that to say about Coach Strong, he also has a good relationship with wide receiver coach Ron Dugans. "We have a very close relationship."

The three star safety was named to the Sophomore Florida State Writer's Association 1A/1B Second Team All-State, as well as the All Big Bend Second Team Utility. Last year he rushed for 1,500 yards while compiling 17 touchdowns.
