The meet will feature some of the top competition from Louisiana and around the country as Idaho, UL-Lafayette, UL-Monroe, Louisiana Tech, McNeese State, New Orleans, Saint John's and Southeast Louisiana are all scheduled to compete. Action will begin Friday afternoon at 4 p.m., while Saturday's competition is scheduled to start at noon.
"This meet will allow us to take another step towards our season goals," said LSU head coach Pat Henry. "We hope to improve upon our performances from last week, as well as return some athletes to the lineup that rested last week following the (NCAA Indoor) championships."
The LSU track team will return in full force as all the Lady Tigers from the indoor national championship team, as well as the majority of the Tigers that finished fourth at the national meet are set to make their outdoor debut.
National champions Muna Lee and Lolo Jones will headline the Lady Tiger group. Lee will be running the 100-meter dash for the first time this season, while Jones will be making her inaugural appearance in the 200 meters.
The duo will also combine with Stephanie Durst and Monique Hall to represent the Lady Tigers in the 4x100-meter relay.
All-Americans Bennie Brazell, Pete Coley, Kelly Willie and Robert Parham will join together for the 4x100 relay as well, as the Tigers make their first appearance of the season in the short relay.
In addition, Coley, Willie and Parham will each take a turn in the open quarter and later combine with Marlon Greensword in the 4x400-meter relay, as foursome begins their quest to defend their national title in the event.
Following the Tiger Relays, the LSU track team will return to action, April 2-5, when it travels to Austin, Texas, for the 75th Annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relay.
