Jefferson and Toliver on the Offense

The Tigers had the short field all night, but the passing game struggled. Go inside to hear quarterback Jordan Jefferson and receiver Terrance Toliver talk about the game.

LSU is no longer in the race for Atlanta, but that doesn’t mean the Tigers will lose any focus…

“You always have other goals you want to accomplish. One of our goals is making a BCS bowl. We haven’t made a BCS bowl since 2007. We feel like this is the year. The only way we are going to make that bowl is if we finish the season strong.”

Jefferson struggled throwing the ball, hitting on just 4-of-10 passes for 51 yards and no scores. The offense also went 2-of-12 on third downs…

“I can’t tell you what was going on. We just have to make sure we capitalize on third down.

On staying in the big picture…

“Anything can happen at any moment. We just have to make sure we finish the season strong and we will go from there. We are definitely in the picture. Anything can happen in the SEC Championship, which might put us in the position we want to be. We have to stay on our toes at all times and finish the season strong.”

The offense worked the short field for most of the night to secure the 51-0 victory…

“We put 50 on the board and the defense stepped it up with two touchdowns. We came out with the victory, so I’m happy about that.”

It wasn’t all perfect for the Tigers as neither quarterback threw for more than 51 yards or completed more than 50-percent of their passes…

“We could have done better, but we didn’t. We still came out with the victory and we ran the ball well and blocked on the perimeter. We could have done better, but I don’t have any concern about it. It’s how the game goes.”

After coming out flat against McNeese State last month, the Tigers hoped to bring a different focus to their out-of-conference battle this go-around…

“We knew this team would come out and play us hard, so we wanted to match the intensity. There was a lot of man coverage and cover zero, so we just tried to take advantage of their defense. The big plays down field we didn’t have and couldn’t convert, but I think we will be good.”
