While LSU wasn’t on the table, good news was still on the way.
Hoping to send the Evangel crowd into a frenzy Rasco turned around, unbuttoned his shirt, and revealed his LSU gear.
“He just wanted to have a little fun with it, and he knew all the LSU fans in the house would love it and go crazy,” said his mother, Gwen Rasco. “He is very happy with the decision. He was pretty excited this morning when he made the call.”
After a trip to Florida last weekend, the decision went down to the wire.
“6:54 a.m. this morning, that’s the first time I heard him say he wanted to call the coaches and commit,” he said. “He really liked Florida and some of the other coaches, but in the end he knew his best choice was to stay home. We all wanted him at home, but in the end it was his decision, and he felt comfortable with LSU. It’s one of those things were you know you won’t be mistreated if you are at home.
“Jermauria’s just excited to get down to Baton Rouge and represent the state.”
After a conversation with Les Miles, Rasco made things official.
“He went ahead and told coach Miles that he wanted to be a Tiger, and they were thrilled,” said Gwen. “Coach Miles kept asking if he was lying, because they were excited. They worked very hard on keeping him in state, and he noticed that. We both did.
“Between Brick Haley and Les Miles, LSU did everything they had to. I never worried about them taking care of Jermauria. Les kept telling me that he would be in good hands, and I trust him on that.”
Rasco, a 6-foot-3, 250-pound defensive end prospect, is LSU’s 22nd commitment to the 2011 class.
