Reporting on… “June 4 and I’m ready to get down there.”

Majoring in… “Business.”

Current height… “I’m 6-6.5 to 6-7.”

Current weight… “I was at 215 but it’s down to 210 now.”

Jersey # at LSU... “I’m hoping for No. 17 but I know a defensive guy has that right now.”

Why No. 17… “It goes all the way back to my dad, granddad and brother. No. 17 has been in our family for a while so it would be real special to be able to keep that tradition going and wear it like they all did.”

Why pick LSU… “Obviously, the facilities are top-notch and that’s something that is always in your head because you get to work out and use them. I love coach Miles and the way I got to know him and I feel like I’ll have a chance to compete for the job pretty early.”

New LSU offensive coordinator Steve Kragthorpe… “Me and him talk about once a month. He came to my house and we talked and stuff and got along great. We talked a lot about football and I think he wants to do a lot of drop-back stuff and get the ball to the athletes that LSU has and let them do the work. He wants to do a lot of quick reads and get rid of the ball quickly.”

Kragthorpe’s thoughts on LSU’s Spring… “Coach Kragthorpe said they kept everything really simple in the spring game so Oregon couldn’t catch onto anything but he said they definitely got better in the spring. He said guys were catching the ball better and he said the quarterbacks did well. He said they still have things to work on but they did good.”

Stephen Rivers and Zack Mettenberger solidify LSU's QB position

Thoughts on Zack Mettenberger’s decision to attend LSU… “I’ve talked to him when we hung out on my official visit and we got to know one another. I’m looking forward to getting to know him better and working with him in the future.”

Did Mettenberger’s decision create any doubt on his choice… “It was on my mind from all of the talk that was out there but I always knew when you went to a school like LSU that there was always going to be competition. I’m just looking forward to competing and helping LSU the best way I can and let everything else take care of itself.”

On LSU’s surprise signee Jerrard Randall “It was a little bit of a surprise and I really wasn’t expecting it but if it helps LSU then that’s what needs to happen.”

His relationship with his older brother Phillip Rivers… “Me and him text at least every day and we talk as much as possible. I actually went out there for a week on spring break and he always gives me little pointers and tips to help me grow as a player. Whenever we get a chance to throw the ball around he’ll critique me and help any way he can.”

Phillip’s thoughts on LSU… “He definitely thought it was a big deal when I committed to LSU. He talked about how big of a deal it was because when he went to N.C. State they weren’t that big so he definitely commented on going to a championship program like that and how big of a deal it was.”

Tommy Moffitt’s workout progam… “I really hit it hard and was gaining weight pretty fast and got up to about 215 for a while but then I missed about four days when I got sick. I’m back up to 210 and I was in the 185 to 190’s my senior year so it’s been a big help.”

Relationship with future teammates… “The person I probably talk to the most is Jarvis Landry. He always talks about how he’s always ready to work and I told him I’ll always be there to throw to him.”

Favorite movie… “Unknown...We went and watched it not too long ago and it was real good; like a suspense movie.”

Favorite NFL team… “Chargers (laughing)”

Favorite college team growing Up… “I’d have to say N.C. State because before that my family didn’t really have a team we followed. We were really just football fans until Phillip went to N.C. State. For a while I was an Auburn fan but now I can’t stand them now that I’m going to LSU (laughing).”

Hottest celebrity… “I’d say Carrie Underwood probably.”

Middle Name… “Gunner. What a great name for a quarterback (laughing).”

Stay tuned to as we continue to update LSU’s signees for the 2011 class as they prepare to report to campus in less than a month.
