Roneeka Hodges to transfer

Roneeka Hodges, a junior on the 2002-03 LSU Lady Tigers basketball team, has decided to transfer to another university, head coach Sue Gunter announced on Wednesday.

"You hate to lose a player the caliber of Roneeka," Gunter said. "She made huge contributions to the program over the past three seasons and we certainly wish her the best with her future endeavors."

Hodges, a 5-11 guard, played in all 34 games this past season and averaged 4.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. She played in 94 games during her three-year career at LSU and started 38. The New Orleans native scored 669 points and grabbed 397 rebounds during her three seasons as a Lady Tiger.

LSU has granted Hodges a full release.

The LSU women's basketball team has set its end-of-the-year banquet for May 6 at 7 p.m. on the floor of the Maravich Assembly Center.

The event to honor the 2002-03 team and its accomplishments is open to the public for a charge of $25.00 per person. Please call (225) 578-6643 for more information and to make reservations by Friday, May 2.

The Lady Tigers are coming off one of the best seasons in school history.

They ended the year ranked No. 3 in the nation and won 30 games for just the second time in school history. LSU also won the Southeastern Conference Tournament championship and made the NCAA Tournament's Elite Eight.
