Landon Collins, the unanimous selection as Louisiana's top prospect for the 2012 class, traveled to Beaverton, Oregon last week to compete in NIKE's first annual The Opening - a five-day competition that matched a combine setting with a 7-on-7 tournament.
For the 6-foot, 210-pounder, the cross-country flight proved well worth the travel time.
Collins opened the competition by posting the camp's top SPARQ score - recording a 43.7" vertical (good for best overall), 4.2 shuttle, 4.42 40-yard dash, and 43' ball toss en route to taking home the title.
A few days later, Alpha Talon - sparked by an interception by Collins in the final minutes - knocked off Vapor Carbon in the 7-on-7 championship match, handing them their first loss of the four-day tournament.
With two titles under his belt, Collins made it a clean sweep when he was named The Opening's Most Valuable Player.
