CoachSpeak: Broussard on Holmes

Kavahra Holmes caught the attention of the LSU staff during the spring evaluation period. After a strong camp showing this summer, Holmes picked up an offer from the Tigers. He committed shortly after and has not looked back. Coach Paul Broussard believes Kavahra has a tremendous amount of college potential.

"He's a real fun guy," said Broussard. "He is one of those guys, but he keeps it all context of the practice.

"He knows when it's time for business and when it's time to be silly."

Holmes made the move over to Breaux Bridge a couple of years ago and he has made a very positive impact on the program.

"He came to us as a sophomore," said Broussard. "He plays wide receiver for us, but he does a lot of the kicking for us too. He is a real good kicker. He does our returns too.

"We keep him on the field. We try to get him the ball as many ways of possible. He's a threat to take it the distance at any time."

The name of Kavahra's game is speed and he has plenty of it. Holmes is another track star for Breaux Bridge.

"He is so fast it's scary," said Broussard. "He ran one of the fastest quarters in the state last year and he can really fly.

"Billy (Gonzalez) came here in the spring and he saw him running and he said, 'Who is that?'

"I told him about Kavahra and he wanted to get him in his camp. They got him over there and he did really well and they offered him a scholarship.

"I think in the end, he's going to have a great career at LSU."
