The list is chosen by a pre-season poll of national college women's basketball media members.
The 30 players and others who excel throughout the season will be evaluated and considered for December's mid-season list and the official voting ballot will be released in March.
The national ballot consists of approximately 20 top players who have proven that they are also making progress toward graduation and maintaining at least a cumulative 2.0 GPA.
Barrett, a native of Jackson, Miss., is one of three SEC players on the list joining Tennessee's Glory Johnson and Shekinna Stricklen. Barrett heads into her senior season as the 23rd all-time leading scorer in LSU history with 1,118 points and the 16th all-time leading rebounder with 571 boards.
A two-time All-SEC selection, Barrett averaged 12.2 points per game as a junior and led the Lady Tigers in rebounding with 6.3 boards per contest, which ranked 10th in the SEC. Barrett has produced nine games of 20 or more points during her career to go along with 11 double-doubles.
The Lady Tigers will have a practice open to the public from 1-2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
