Now, the No. 1-ranked Tigers have gotten word that a second FSU pledge, five-star defensive end prospect Dante Fowler, will take a look around – beginning with a trip to Baton Rouge.
"I have not made any visits yet, and I won't start making any until after my senior season is over," Fowler said. "But once I do, LSU will probably be the first place that I go. It might happen in December, but if not then I will shuffle them around and get to LSU in late-January.
"I do know that LSU will be an official, for sure."
The St. Petersburg native has been committed to the Seminoles since Dec. 5, 2010.
"Taking these visits is just about me exploring options," Fowler said. "I still want to see if FSU is the best school for me. I just want to be absolutely sure about my decision."
Fowler hasn't given hints as to which school he might lean towards if FSU was removed from the picture, but he is keeping in close contact with the nation's top-ranked program.
"I talk with the LSU coaches and watch them play on television, so the interest there is real," Fowler said. "The LSU defense is just so fast, and I love watching their defensive ends. That defense is just like me, so it fits. That is one thing that really sticks with me.
"At practice my high school teammates call each other ‘The LSU defense,' because we just get after it like LSU does."
"I know Avery, and I know his brother Patrick Peterson went over to LSU after playing here in Florida, and he really shined," Fowler said. "(Coach Billy Gonzales) is staying on me hard about coming to LSU. He keeps letting me know that I am high on their board and could come in and make an impact.
"I always want to play on a team that contends, and right now LSU is doing that."
Scout.com ranks Fowler as the No. 36 overall prospect in the class of 2012.
