How the No. 1 Tigers and Rebels scored Saturday night as LSU improved to 11-0 and 7-0 in the SEC

First quarter

LSU – Ron Brooks 46 interception return (Drew Alleman kick), 14:32. KEY PLAYS: On the Rebels’ third snap, quarterback Zack Stoudt overthrew a receiver and Brooks snatched the ball, sprinted right and found daylight down the sideline for his second pick-six of the season and the Tigers’ quickest lead of the season. LSU 7, Ole Miss 0

LSU – Kenny Hilliard 1 run (Alleman kick), 1:26. DRIVE: 9 plays-86 yards-4:34. KEY PLAYS: Jordan Jefferson popped the cork on the LSU offense with a 22-yard strike to Rueben Randle on the first play and scrambled for 19 yards to convert a third-and-5 and flip the field. Michael Ford scooted 16 yards on an option toss and Odell Beckham Jr. carved out 13 yards on a pass from Jefferson on a well-executed drag pattern. LSU 14, Ole Miss 0

LSU – Russell Shepard 22 pass from Jordan Jefferson (Alleman kick), 5:15. DRIVE: 2-26-:39. KEY PLAYS: Ron Brooks sacked Stoudt, forced a fumbles and pounced on it. Two plays later, Jefferson drifted back, stood tall with an oncoming rusher headed his way and rifled a perfect strike to Shepard in the end zone. LSU 14, Ole Miss 0

Second quarter

Kevin Minter and Mo Claiborne celebrate Minter's fumble recovery for a TD.

LSU – Kevin Minter recovered Barry Brunetti’s fumble in the end zone (Alleman kick), 12:42. KEY PLAYS: Following a 46-yard Brad Wing punt, Ole Miss started at its own 14 and Brunetti went backwards. Mike Brockers dumped him for a 12-yard loss on first down and Brunetti botched a handoff on the next play, losing the ball in the end zone. LSU 28, Ole Miss 0

LSU – Spencer Ware 35 run (Alleman kick), 3:01. DRIVE: 11-95-5:32. KEY PLAYS: Pinning the Tigers deep did the Rebels no good as they methodically churned down the field, alternating runs with short passes. Jefferson was on target with back-to-back waggle passes to tight ends Chase Clement and DeAngelo Peterson to dig the Tigers out of a hole and they plugged away until Ware blasted through the heart of the Rebels’ defense for the wide-open run, the longest of his career. LSU 35, Ole Miss 0

OLE MISS – Bryson Rose 39 FG, 1:03. DRIVE: 8-56-1:58. KEY PLAYS: Ole Miss showed some spunk – especially Brunetti – to avert a shutout. Brunetti weaved through the Tigers defense for a 47-yard run to spark the drive and Rose boomed the kick through. LSU 35, Ole Miss 3

Third quarter

LSU – Ford 19 run (Alleman kick), 12:35. DRIVE: 5-80-2:25. KEY PLAYS: Alfred Blue galloped down the left sideline for 57 yards on an option pitch on the second play of the drive to ignite the series. After Jefferson netted -1 yards on two keepers, he gave the ball up to Ford on an option left and he covered the distance with the help of Randle’s crunching downfield block. LSU 42, Ole Miss 3

LSU – James Stampley 1 run (Alleman kick), :54.1. DRIVE: 12-74-6:59. KEY PLAYS: The Tigers were content to grind it out on the ground with Ware, Hilliard, Ford and Terrance Magee sharing the load until LSU got to the 2-yard-line. From there, Stampley got the first three carries of his career, finally spinning into the end zone after nearly losing the ball on a handoff from Lee to give the Tigers their seventh TD by a seventh different player. LSU 49, Ole Miss 3

Fourth quarter

LSU – Alleman 29 FG, 9:30. DRIVE: 7-44-3:35. KEY PLAYS: Down to the fifth-string tailback didn’t slow the Tigers down as Terrance Mage took the ball 35 yards on the first snap after Ole Miss failed on a fourth-down conversion. Three more carries netted another first down and when LSU bogged down, Alleman stretched his leg out with his first field goal since the overtime game-winner at Alabama two weeks earlier. LSU 52, Ole Miss 3

Final score: LSU 52, Ole Miss 3

Records: No. 1 LSU 11-0, 7-0 SEC; Ole Miss 2-9, 0-7

Attendance: 59,877
