Hickey lands on all-tourney team

Freshman PG was a big spark plug for the Tigers during a 2-1 performance at the Charleston Classic

LSU freshman point guard Anthony Hickey was named to the All-Tournament team for the Charleston Classic announced late Sunday.

The Tigers finished 2-1 in the tournament, getting wins over Western Kentucky (76-57) and Georgia Tech (59-50) after falling 88-82 to eventual tournament champion Northwestern in the opening round.

In three games, Hickey averaged 16 points, including 20 in the win over Georgia Tech on Sunday. Hickey averaged 32 minutes a contest, hitting 19-of-37 field goals and 6-of-14 3-point field goals. Hickey also averaged 4.3 rebounds a game, 4 assists per game and 2 steals per contest.

Also on the all-tournament team were MVP Drew Crawford and John Shurna of champion Northwestern, Herb Pope of runnerup Seton Hall and Carl James of St. Joseph's.

The Tigers return to the Pete Maravich Assembly Center for their first home game since Nov. 12 on Wednesday at 7 p.m. when they host South Alabama. Tickets are on sale for $10 for adults, $5 for youth (ages 3-12) at the LSU Athletics Ticket Office and online at LSUtix.net.
