After a 13-day break for finals, the LSU women return to action with the first of four games in eight days at 2 p.m. against Alabama State at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
The first 1,000 fans in attendance Sunday will receive a free Lady Tiger bottle opener key chain.
LSU is beginning a holiday food drive in association with the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. All fans are asked to bring canned goods and food items to the PMAC and drop them off in the marked barrels located around the arena. The Lady Tigers will also accept canned good donations at the UCLA, Lamar and Grambling games leading up to Christmas.
The Lady Tigers (3-3) are back in action for the first time since losing at No. 18 Ohio State, 77-68 on Nov. 27. Sunday's game will be the first of three chances to see LSU at home this week. The Lady Tigers welcome UCLA to the PMAC on Tuesday before facing Lamar on Dec. 18.
Alabama State (2-2) is making its first appearance in Baton Rouge since 2002. LSU leads the series 2-0 with an 87-69 win in 1990 and a 65-19 win in 2002. The Hornets have also not played this month due to final exams. After losing its first two games of the season, Alabama State has won two in a row and feature three double-figure scorers in Kierra Page, Quentori Alford and Danielle Gazaway.
The Lady Tigers are led in scoring by LaSondra Barrett, who is averaging 12.7 points per game. Junior guard Adrienne Webb has raised her scoring output the past two games and she is second on the squad with 8.2 points per contest. Senior forward Courtney Jones is tops in rebounding with 6 boards per game.
As a team, LSU's defense has been solid, surrendering only 51.7 points per contest and holding opponents to 32.5 percent shooting. In three contests at home this season, opponents have failed to score 45 points and LSU is giving up only 37.3 points per game at the PMAC.
The game will be broadcast live on the LSU Sports Radio Network on 107.3 FM in Baton Rouge and in the Geaux Zone on LSUsports.net. Members of the Geaux Zone can watch live streaming HD video at www.LSUsports.net/live.
