After helping lead the LSU women's basketball team to a four-game win streak, forward Krystal Forthan has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Forthan averaged 8 points, 3.7 rebounds and a steal for the week coming off the bench. She shot a combined 58.8% and was 2-of-4 from 3-point range in LSU's three victories last week.
She scored a game-high 15 points – all in the first half – and grabbed 6 rebounds in a 64-43 win at McNeese State on Friday.
The Portland, Ore., native ranks third on the team in scoring with 8.2 points per contest to go along with 3.8 boards per game. Forthan leads the Lady Tigers in field-goal percentage (50.7%) and she tops the team in blocks with 9.
LSU puts its winning streak back on the line Thursday as the Lady Tigers host Grambling at noon at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. Admission is free to kids and a guest. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a free Lady Tiger picture frame.
