Of note

  • North Texas walloped LSU 75-55 in Baton Rouge last season in the first meeting between the two programs as the Eagles limited the Tigers to 36.5% shooting (23-of-63) and won the battle on the backboards 41-32.
  • The Tigers’ 14-of-27 free-throw performance Monday was their worst of the season and dropped them out of the lead in the SEC for the first time this year.
  • Despite the rough day as a team, Hamilton and Turner were a combined 13-of-15. Hamilton ranks sixth in the SEC in foul shooting at 80%. Turner would be third (84.6%) but has not taken enough attempts to qualify.
  • Hickey leads the SEC with 2.4 steals a game and is fifth with 4.3 assists a contest.
  • LSU tops the SEC with 14.8 offensive boards a contest, paced by Hamilton’s 3.5 per game and O’Bryant with 2.7.
  • North Texas’ win in Baton Rouge last season was the program’s first against an SEC foe in 26 games and the first road victory over a team from a power-six conference since the 1991-92 season opener at Texas Tech.
  • Johnson faced the Mena Green twice when he was the Nevada coach, splitting two games in 1999-2000.
  • Hogans is a former Class 3A All-State player from Edna Karr. He helped lead the Cougars to the 2007 state crown and was a three-team All-Metro selection by The Times-Picayune.
