Shepard debating NFL

Russell Shepard's decision to leave for the NFL would have to be made by Monday.

Shortly after news broke of LSU wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator Billy Gonzales leaving the program to take the offensive coordinator job at Illinois, junior receiver Russell Shepard took to the internet with some additional information that could effect the Tigers' passing game.

At 1:01 p.m., Shepard tweeted, (from @LSUShep10, a Twitter account that Shepard confirmed as his personal account) "Thanks for your support Tiger Nation...but I have to do what's best for my family and myself...Geaux Tigers."

On Tuesday at 5:08 p.m., Shepard tweeted, "I have a hard decision to make...."

A source close to Shepard told that Shepard is debating leaving LSU for the NFL, not transferring to another program. All underclassmen have a Sunday deadline for a decision to be made.

The former five-star prospect has spent three seasons in Baton Rouge, where he has amassed 52 receptions for 478 yards and five touchdowns and 84 rushes for 555 yards and four touchdowns.
