The second of the four national college baseball pre-season polls came out Tuesday and LSU inched a little higher up the expectations list.
The Tigers are ranked No. 8 by Baseball America, four spots higher than they were in the Collegiate Baseball poll that was unveiled in December.
LSU has plenty of SEC company in the BA poll.
National runnerup Florida is ranked No. 1 – the same spot the Gators hold in the CB poll – while two-time national champion South Carolina is No. 3 and Arkansas is fourth. Vanderbilt (10), Georgia (11) and Ole Miss (22) follow LSU in the Baseball American rankings, with future league foe Texas A&M at No. 5.
The Tigers officially start practice Friday to prepare for their season-opening weekend series against Air Force Feb. 17-19 at Alex Box Stadium.
