Shortly after Henry was hired by Tigers coach Les Miles, he made a quick impression on West Mesquite (Texas) wide receiver Eldridge Massington.
"I talked with Coach Henry on the phone last week and he was great," Massington said recently. "He wants me to get down there, so I am trying to come for the spring game. I am seeing what my parents want to do.
"I definitely want to get there before the summer. Coach Henry and Coach (Steve) Ensminger have both been in touch, and they said an offer could come when I visit. They say that Coach Miles likes to do those kinds of things in person when he can."
|Massington said an LSU offer could shut down his recruitment process|
Massington, one of the top prospects in the Lone Star State, has offers from double-digit programs, but he has yet to reel in an offer from Texas.
With Mack Brown apparently passing on Massington, the Tigers could be in line to land the 6-foot-3, 205-pound four-star prospect.
"I have a lot of interest in LSU," Massington said. "When I was first thinking about colleges, LSU was the school my coach brought up to me.
"I just like how they use big wide receivers. That pro style they run is the kind of offense I can fit into as a big receiver."
If Miles extends a verbal offer, Massington said he will be almost ready to shut his process down.
"If I get the LSU offer, I think I will be set up," he said. "Clemson as well. That's the other team I want to hear from. After that, I wouldn't be waiting on anyone."
For LSU, and most programs, the plot thickens when the conversation branches out to Massington's close friend and teammate Kameron Miles - also a four-star prospect and the No. 9-ranked safety prospect in the country.
It appears the news could be positive for Tigers on both fronts.
"Kameron and I, we like LSU a lot," Massington said. "For him, it's about being a defensive back in that system, because that's what they are known for right now.
"I like the receivers, and we both like the overall feel of the program. We are both hoping to visit at the end of the month, and we both really want to pick up offers from LSU."
