Home for the postseason

Tigers land a regional and are in line for Super Regional. The entire 64-team NCAA Tournament field will be unveiled at 11 a.m. on Monday.

Postseason baseball is back at Alex Box Stadium.

LSU was one of 16 hosts unveiled Sunday by the NCAA, giving the Tigers a home regional for the first time since 2009.

The entire 64-team tournament field will be unveiled at 11 a.m. Monday (ESPNU), as well as the top-8 national seeds.  LSU (43-16) is expected to be one of those top 8 after winning the SEC regular-season championship.

The regional will be the Tigers’ 25th overall and 20th in Baton Rouge. They have failed to advance either to a Super Regional or the College World Series only once in the previous 19 occasions they have played at home.

Besides LSU, two other SEC teams landed regional host sites: Florida and East Division champion South Carolina. Those two are also likely to land top-8 seeds.

Kentucky, which led the league standings for eight of 10 weeks and was one win away from the tying the Tigers for the outright crown, was not given a host site.
