"We went 13-1 last year, but the season didn't end like we wanted it to.
"We have a chip on our shoulder and we're anxious to get back on the field."
The Tigers have had nearly seven months to digest their loss in the BCS National Championship game.
Blue reports that the time off did little to ease his suffering.
"All of that still lingers a lot," said Blue of the season ending loss. "We knew how great we could have been and we knew we had the potential to win it all.
"To go all of that way and then to lose it like that just leaves a sour taste in your mouth.
"It just puts you on edge and makes you want to go even harder in practice."
Les Miles has always liked to play big, physical, grind it out football.
While the Tigers will always take pride in running the football, Blue reports that the offense may be a little more dynamic this fall.
"I think we're going to be able to throw the ball down the field a little more this year," said Blue. "I think Coach Miles is going to attack the DBs more to try to get Zach (Mettenberger) to open up the field a little more to help the running backs."
Blue reports that he is in the best shape of his playing career and that he will be ready to go when his number is called.
"I think I have put myself in the best position to play," said Blue. "I have worked extremely hard with Coach Moffitt this summer and I feel like I am a lot stronger.
"We ran the ball hard last year and everybody had the chance to contribute. It didn't matter who was out there, everybody played hard.
"I feel like I am in better shape to help the team this season."
