Thibodaux LB narrows interest

Hunter Boyd, a 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker from Thibodaux-E.D. White, is known for his hard-hitting, physical style of play.

He is looking at four Division I-A teams right now and took unofficial visits to each of their campuses during the summer to get a better look at what each had to offer.

More importantly, Boyd wanted to let the coaches see in person everything he brings to the table.

"I've camped at LSU, Southern Miss, Boston College and Texas A&M," Boyd told Tiger Rag. "Those are the main D-I schools I'm looking at, and I hear from them all pretty regularly.

"Most people I've talked to have said they would let me know. LSU's was a 'we'll let you know' deal, and Boston College and Texas A&M seemed like they had a pretty good interest."

So how was his summer camp tour?

"Boston College had a good camp and LSU's was pretty hard but good," Boyd said. "I saw that Texas A&M and Boston College had real good facilities but Boston College's looked a little more modern."

Playing football at a school that gets its fair share of national attention is at the top of Boyd's list, but he is also looking at how long it will take for him to get on the field and proximity to his hometown.

"I'm looking at wherever I get the opportunity to play the quickest," he said. "If I have the opportunity to play close to home, then that is great."
